The (Bus) Xchange Files

The doors leading from The Crossing Foodcourt to the new Bus Xchange in Lichfield Street. Mysteries behind these fire doors leading from The Crossing Foodcourt to the new Bus Xchange building in Lichfield Street will be revealed soon. But no aliens will be involved in these X files.

The Xchange, closer in appearance to an airport lounge than a traditional bus station, will be finished in a few weeks and operational on 20 November, following commissioning by the City Council and Environment Canterbury.

Commissioning involves bus-traffic management, driver training and perfecting the Real Time Information system, which tells people how far their buses are from the Xchange.

A week of events is planned to introduce the Bus Xchange at The Crossing, including tours, a street party and movie nights. More information about a preview of the new and exciting facility will be out soon.

The 200-vehicle carpark, with its entrance off Lichfield Street, opens this month. Call busInfo on 366 88 55 for information about bus routes.
