Council's Latest Flats To Be Opened
A 25-unit housing complex, called Tommy Taylor Courts, in honour of a former Christchurch Mayor and MP, will be officially opened by the Minister of Local Government, Sandra Lee, on Saturday 4 August at 2pm.
The complex, on the corner of Waltham Road and Brougham Street, is for residents on low incomes and who have low assets.
It is already full with tenants ranging in age from the 20s to the mid-70s. Several of the units will be available for inspection after the official opening. Christchurch City Council is the country's second biggest landlord after Housing NZ with more 2650 units. Background papers are included with this release on Tommy Taylor, the complex, and City Housing.
