Funding for your community group

Hillary Commission and Community Development Funds

A guide is available called Funding for Community Groups to assist community groups to identify and apply for funding that the Christchurch City Council either provides directly or administers on behalf of other bodies.

Funding is available under the Hillary Commission Community Sports Fund (approximately $35,000) and the Christchurch City Council's Community Development Scheme (approximately $40,000). The Community Sports Fund supports sport, fitness and physical leisure activities, while non-profit making community services are supported under the Community Development Scheme. Applications close on 31 March each year.

The Board's Funding Assessment Committee, involving community representatives, allocates the funding with a main funding round in May each year and possibly a second round later in the year.

Contact the Advocacy Team for information on the criteria for these schemes and for advice on completing an application.

Project and Discretionary Funds

In February each year the Community Board decides on the allocation of Project funding for the financial year commencing in July. The allocation for 2001/02 is shown on a following page.

The Board has retained $34,950 in Discretionary funding for allocation during the 2001/02 year.

Application for Project and Discretionary Funds can be made to the Advocacy Team for consideration by the Community Board.
