Glittering opening party

Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu is organising a party -- Glitterati -- to celebrate the opening of the Cecil Beaton portrait exhibition.

The event, from 8pm to midnight on Friday, 26 May, will be a spectacular evening of glitz and glamour. Dance to Tim Beveridge's music from the classic era of jazz and swing and relive the era of glamour, style and elegance which Beaton captured on film.

Dress in the "Black and White and Sparkling" theme or black tie and enjoy refreshments and a light supper, a private viewing of the exhibition and entertainment including "Marilyn Monroe".

"This will be a night of pure glamour and so reminiscent of the lifestyle Beaton himself led during mid-last century," says Gallery Curator Peter Vangioni.

  • Tickets to Glitterati are $120 and available from the Gallery Shop or call 941 7388. Entertainment, refreshments, a light supper and gift bags are included in the ticket price.
