Peace cranes needed

The Council wants the city’s children to get behind the International Peace Bell, which is expected to be unveiled in its new Botanic Gardens site around dusk on 3 October.

“We’d like children to make peace cranes to bring along and hang around the site or lanterns to float in the Avon as part of the festivities,” says Council staff member Barbara August. “We’re keen to get primary schools to take up these projects as class activities. We want the event to be fun.”

  • For instructions about how to make lanterns or cranes, look online at www.peaceis.org/peacecrane.htm or call the international relations team on 941 8999.
