Parklands Library opens

Christchurch’s newest community library at Parklands was opened with the ceremonial cutting of a ribbon by Deputy Mayor Carole Evans on Saturday, 6 August.

More than 3000 people visited on the first day, enjoying the facility’s café and new stock. Christchurch City Libraries’ Benjamin Day says the opening day was like going to one of the new generation of bookstores, except that it didn’t cost anything to take away brand new books, DVDs and CDs.

The day included an after-hours “Frenzy” party for young people, with lots of food, games, competitions and hip hop lessons.

  • The Library is open Mon-Fri 9am-6pm and on Saturdays from 10am-4pm. Parklands Library and Learning Centre is located next to the Parklands Mall on Queenspark Drive.
