The annual community event supported by the Spreydon/Heathcote Community Board in the Hoon Hay area will be held this year on Friday, 4 November from 3-7pm in the grounds of Rowley Avenue School.

The event will feature music and entertainment on a stage, with bands and other local groups performing, art activities for children, great food, a bouncy castle, face painting and more.

Local schools and community groups are being encouraged to take part through stalls and performances. Maria Moran, the Council’s Community and Recreation Advisor for Spreydon/Heathcote, is thrilled with the response so far.

“Rowley Avenue School is totally getting behind it, with the acting principal, Geoff Siave, encouraging every class to have a stall, and planning lessons in all areas of the curriculum to reflect the learning opportunities of this event.

“For example, they’re running maths lessons focusing on money and the giving of change.

“The event is all about the community coming together to celebrate, showcasing local talent and providing free family-focused fun for all to enjoy,” she says. “It’s great working with enthusiastic local people on the organising team for this special event.”
