Children’s Day slots still open

National Children’s Day, a celebration of everything that’s great about being a child, takes place this year on Sunday, 30 October, and the City Council is again organising a day of free family fun at The Groynes.

From 11am–4pm there’ll be stage performances and live music, craft activities, face-painting, boating on the lake, games for children and other family members and good food. Children’s Day at The Groynes aims to promote healthy lifestyles, with a specific focus on encouraging all family members to be active together.

There are still a couple of time slots available for either groups or individuals who would like to perform. If you are interested in this opportunity, please call event coordinator Ollie Clifton on 941 5409 to find out more.

This will be the sixth Children’s Day at The Groynes, and each year the event grows in popularity. Coordinated by Council staff in association with community groups and agencies, the event is funded by the Shirley/Papanui Community Board.
