Business support at Central Library
Need Timber-Framed Buildings: NZS 3604:1999? Or maybe you want the 1998 annual report for a Christchurch company? Or the latest Harvard Business Review on current management practice?
Christchurch City Libraries’ Business Centre, at the Central Library, provides a seven-day service for businesses needing information. It’s a one-stop shop, from sales and marketing, finance and investment, to exports, company information, statistics, careers and NZ or international standards.
Business Services Manager Jane Egerton says, “We have a huge range of resources at our fingertips, both printed and electronic, probably the best in the South Island.”
The Business Centre can be used in two ways. People can drop in to use the space as a quiet retreat to get project work done, with staff on hand to help find information. There is power for laptops and a comfortable seating. Alternatively, the fee-based research service, Business Advantage, sources information and packages it in report format, ready for use.
For more details, look on the website — library.christchurch.org.nz/Central/BusinessCentre.asp — or call the Centre on 941 7869. The Business Centre also publishes Connect, a free monthly newsletter which includes book and website reviews and articles about local business people. You can pick up a copy from the library, join their mailing list online, or fill out the form on the back of any Connect.
Christchurch City Libraries offers free corporate membership, as well as free individual membership, both of which allow unlimited access to the services and facilities of the Business Centre.
- The Centre is on the second floor of Central Library, Gloucester Street, in the central city. It’s open Mon-Fri 9am-9pm and weekends 10am- 4pm
