Holiday scheme spans ages

Lorna, aged 85, joined a group of much younger people recently in a theatre games session at the Linwood Community Arts Centre. Linwood Youth Adventures is one of many holiday programmes run by the City Council and Christchurch City Libraries in different locations around the city during school holidays. With names like the Bromley Boredom Busters and Linwood Movers, it’s easy to understand their purpose. These two programmes, for example, run for a fortnight, are very popular and cater for 40 children a day. Programmes run from 9am-3pm each day and offer a wide range of fun activities. Energetic and skilled staff make sure everything runs smoothly and the schemes also provide opportunities for young people over 16 years old to volunteer and gain valuable experience.
