New Brighton foreshore

A call is going out for firms interested in working on development on the eastern side of New Brighton’s Marine Parade, between the road and the seawall.

The Council’s City Solutions manager Kevin Mara says the upgrade is part of the wider revitalisation plan for the area in and around the seaside suburb’s shopping area.

That plan has been under way for some time, including the cenotaph refurbishment, work to remove the pedestrian-only status of Seaview Road (from Union St to Oram Ave), development of a planting strategy and of designs for an upgrade of Beresford St, and gathering more information about an artificial reef proposal.
