City Mall upgrade

The City Council will work closely with business operators on the refurbishment of City Mall.

Following a Council decision last month, work is due to start later this year, beginning with upgrades of the mall lighting and tree surrounds and seating. Final designs are now being completed and tenders are still to be called.

The Council’s budget for the year from July includes about $500,000 for the project, including $60,000 for public art. City Mall was created in 1982, with a Council bylaw making it a pedestrian area. It was paved, in three stages, over the following 10 years.
