Awards recognise gardeners’ efforts

Friends and family members gathered recently at the Beckenham Service Centre to congratulate the recipients of the 2004 Community Pride Garden Awards in the Heathcote ward.

Funded by the Christchurch City Council, the Community Pride Garden Awards scheme is a community board initiative to acknowledge the contributions made to the garden city image of Christchurch by property owners and occupiers.

Each year in January the Christchurch Beautifying Association is contracted to select properties on the Council’s behalf in each ward. These properties are presented with certificates to acknowledge their efforts at functions hosted by the individual boards.
