Crashbash scripts by 2 May

The Avenging Angels of Avonside Girls High School, played here by Ashley Keer-Keer, were finalists at last year’s Crashbash.

High school teams wanting to take part in this year’s Crashbash need to get their applications in by 2 May.

This will be Crashbash’s 10th year. It is a City Council-supported road safety programme designed to educate young people about the dangers of drink driving. This year’s theme for a stage script is “alcohol limits for young drivers”.

Ruth Leversedge, who organises the event for the Council, says there’s been some changes to the way this year’s event is structured.

“This year we’re asking students to first put pen to paper and create a wacky script that gets the message about alcohol limits across,” she says. The judges will then decide which scripts they want to see performed at the June 20 awards show in the Great Hall of the Arts Centre.

The judging panel will be looking for originality, imaginative style, the work's potential for staging and design and how effectively it communicates its message. The best act will be toured by paid actors in a future Crashbash Roadshow.

  • To get an official Crashbash 2003 entry form, phone Ruth Leversedge on 366 2448 or ask your school teaching staff for one. Entries must be sent back by 2 May.
