Estuary trust meeting

A community working party set up to look at establishing an Avon/Heathcote Estuary trust will report back at a public meeting on 18 June, from 6.30pm at the Mount Pleasant Community Centre in McCormacks Bay.

The working party has spent nine months investigating how such a trust could work. That work followed on from a series of meetings last year which discussed issues affecting the estuary (Te Ihutai), its possible futures and community involvement. The working party has volunteers from environmental, recreation and residents’ groups and staff and elected officials from the City Council and ECan, the regional council.

People wanting to attend the meeting should call David Newey on 941 8810 or email him at david.newey@ccc.govt.nz
