More Pilates courses Floor pilates (pronounced pi-lah-tees) has been operating at various City Council venues since May this year. It has been so popular that more classes were introduced. Six-week introductory and eight-week level-one pilates courses are available. Pilates involves progressive movements, which are deep stretching, a combination of tai chi, yoga, stretching and strengthening. Most of the exercises are performed in a sitting or lying position and offers a non-stress approach. Pilates improves posture and flexibility and is great for cross training or adding some variety to an exercise programme. New classes will begin 5 November.
