Road changes in Hornby area Relief to some residents in Hornby, Hei Hei and Islington is on its way. Moves will be made to stop heavy commercial vehicles using some streets these areas, The streets are Hei Hei Road,Tirangi Street, Aurora Street, Wycola Avenue, Taurima Street, Foremans Road (from Halswell Junction Road to Parker Street) and Steele Street. Traffic signals will be installed at the Halswell Junction Road-Waterloo Road intersection and reports are being sought on traffic problems in Pound Road, Waterloo Road, Main South Road-Pound Road and Yaldhurst Road intersections. An important aspect of the changes is the lifting of the restriction on vehicle length over the railway line at the Halswell Junction Road at the Waterloo Road intersection. The estimated cost of changes is $90,000. |
