Spreydon resident Steven Gage won four mountain bikes for his family in the Annabel On Top cartoon competition.

Steven took delivery of the bikes from Leo Bego, the manager-owner of Wheels ‘N’ Deals, and said he was thrilled with the win.

The prize also included four cycle helmets and locks (the total package was worth $1810).

The competition started when households throughout Christchurch received a free Annabel booklet highlighting cycling issues through cartoons.

The cartoons promote cycling as a primary means of transport and enjoyable recreation, and create a more positive attitude towards cyclists in a humorous way.

The booklet included a competition for entrants to fill out a speech bubble in a three-framed illustration showing Annabel involved in a near hit with an opening car door.
