SummerTimes coming!

The 18th SummerTimes festival, due to begin, is full of fabulous events to keep everyone busy over summer.

Details are in the new-look brochure that will be delivered to letterboxes throughout the city the first week of December. It will also be available in Council service centres, libraries and City Centre cafes.

The brochure lists feature events brought to you by Christchurch City Council Leisure; community recreation and pool events; and listings from BeThere, the events calendar for Christchurch and Canterbury. Its centre pages contain a fridge calendar and the SummerTimes passport - a pull out and keep opportunity to win a new SEAT Cordoba car.

Take the passport to three of the listed events and attend Rick Armstrong Motors Classical Sparks on 3 March to win.

Along with the highly-anticipated Classical Sparks and TipTop Ice Cream Teddy Bears Picnic, there are several new SummerTimes events.

One is Retro!, showcasing a past decade, and this time it's the '70s...so drag out those flares.

ASB Bank Starry Nights is a celebration of song and dance, featuring hit musical and movie songs performed by Showbiz Canterbury and Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. The Twilight Movie Series presents movies, outdoors in the Victoria Square amphitheatre.

Community recreation and pool events provide a variety of fun activities to choose from, for all ages. There's the popular "Active Christchurch" walking programme and celebrations at local parks and pools offering ways to relax and try something new.

Most events are free of charge, however a small entry fee applies to some. A variety of charges apply to the events listed in BeThere. Have a great summer!
