Chance to vote for environmental art
The judges, Neil Dawson, Bing Dawe and Simon Ogden, say they are impressed by the diversity of artistic endeavour represented and selecting the 19 finalists was a challenge. Six prizes are being awarded — a first prize, four merit prizes and a people’s prize. An exhibition of the finalists can be seen at Christchurch Convention Centre, Kilmore Street, from Sunday 25 to Tuesday 27 June (9am to 5pm) but votes are needed by 5pm on the Monday. The competition is in conjunction with the Recovered Materials Foundation and a Chamber of Commerce conference called "Redesigning Resources — Growing the Economy while Healing the Environment", which will tackle the challenges of the new economy. |
Your vote is needed in selecting the "people’s prize"
in the NCC Arts Award. The first of its kind in New Zealand, for artists working in
secondary (reusable and recyclable) materials, it has attracted 145 entries from all over
the country.
