St Albans ramp in place
The new skateboard ramp has been installed in St Albans
Park.
Shirley-Papanui Community Board identified the need after
two years of discussions with board members, residents and skaters.
A trial was carried with a temporary wooden skateboard
ramp and the final design had input from local skaters along with some other skating
experts in Christchurch. The concrete ramp is now used frequently.
A grand opening will be held, probably in the spring.
The temporary skateboard ramp has been moved to
Brooklands to assess the need there and the community board has learnt that young people
are also keen to have a skateboard ramp in Macfarlane Park.
