Funding boost for hockey Funding in the 2000-01 Annual Plan to Canterbury Hockey Association is to help meet the cost of a second artificial turf at Porritt Park and bring the park up to international standard. The annual inflation- adjusted grant of $80,000 will also help fund replacement of the association’s artificial turfs at Porritt Park and Nunweek Park over a 12 to 14 year replacement cycle. Mark Duff, executive director of the hockey association, says a new turf at Porritt Park means winter touch rugby may be played there and other sporting codes, such as rugby and soccer, may be able to train at the park. “The turf projects are of benefit not only to the hockey community but also to the wider community.” |
