The Christchurch City Council is pleased to be hosting the 2008 Youth In Local Government Conference.
The Youth in Local Government conference is a biennial event that provides an opportunity for those working in local government who are interested in developing stronger links with young people to meet together, build networks and discuss issues related to involving young people with their local communities. The conference provides a place to share knowledge of what works and what doesn’t, listen to international speakers and focus our efforts and remind us that we all have an important part to play in growing active citizens.
This conference is relevant to young people, Mayors, Councillors and representatives from local councils such as policy makers, youth advocates and those working in community development teams and in other arenas with the aim of creating vibrant cities full of youth participation.
The conference is supported by the Canterbury Development Corporation, Ministry of Youth Development, Mayors Taskforce for Jobs and Christchurch City Council.
The theme of the conference is Transforming the Future. Topics covered will include:

- Youth Employment
- Youth Participation
