SummerTimes - What's your perfect way to spend a summer's day? - December 2005 to March 2006

SummerTimes: a festival unique to our city

SummerTimes has long been a treasured tradition of Christchurch. 2006 marks the 23rd year the city gives you a chance to enjoy a summer-long calendar of free outdoor entertainment. The festival enables you to attend your favourite event, mine being anything with fireworks! It also gives you the opportunity to try something different – this year we farewell the Godwits as they depart on their northern journey. Best of all however, you can get out there and enjoy a great day out in our city's parks and open spaces!

So, gather up friends and family, saunter across freshly cut grass to your perfect picnic spot, slip off your jandals and float away on an ocean of music by the Christchurch Symphony, or be whisked into a fantasy world of Westend to Broadway musicals. Savour a picnic tea while watching theatre on the Daffodil Lawn, party with the crowds 'til the wee small hours on New Years Eve or camp out with your kids on an overnight adventure at your local park.

From New Years Eve ‘til the godwits fly north again, SummerTimes brings our city into full bloom with outdoor entertainment for us all to enjoy.

Summer wishes to you all,

Garry Moore.
