Beach Blast

Surf's up! This hugely popular, free event showcases some of the fun activities children (7-12 yrs) and their parents can enjoy at the beach.

The North Beach Surf Life Saving Club and the North Wai Board Riders' Club demonstrate surf activities including boogie boarding and surfing and then children are encouraged to have a go under their expert tuition.

Christchurch Ethnic Soccer Festival

Experience the passion of soccer with the countries where soccer rules!

This exciting event is back with 24 teams and three days of full-on football. Bring the family, adopt a team, and cheer them on! Saturday 29 January and Sunday 30 January, 9am to 4.30pm preliminary play. New Brighton Soccer Club, Bexley Reserve, Pages Road.

Heathcote River Event

A local favourite! Home-made rafts, canoes and all sorts of watercraft journey down the Heathcote River from Waltham Park Pool to Hansen Park.

Pre-registration is encouraged - forms are available from South Christchurch Library/Beckenham Service Centre.

Go By Bike Breakfast

Christchurch is one of best places in New Zealand to go by bike!

So, get on your bike and celebrate national bike-wise week by meeting up with hundreds of cyclists on Wednesday morning for a free outdoor café style breakfast and coffee.

Bottle Lake Forest Family Orienteering Day

This popular, free event introduces the challenge and fun of orienteering to anyone who wants it! The Peninsula and Plains Orienteering Club plan the courses through the forest and assist budding orienteerers on the day. Mountain bike orienteering is also available on the day.

This Art & Craft Fair with free have-a-go workshops including Oamaru stone carving, jewellery and kite making, and raku pot firing.

Family Fishing Day
