Christchurch City Council is publishing a huge, interactive edition of Christchurch City Scene (the residents newsletter), for the A&P Show.
Sam Fisher, Corporate Communication Co-ordinator, says the Christchurch City Councils site is a departure from previous Council A&P Show displays, "the idea is to have a huge City Scene newsletter for residents to walk into. We had more than 20,000 Christchurch residents visit our tent last year (out of over 33,000 who entered the tent) and this is a great opportunity to be accountable to ratepayers.
The display also will have some regular features of City Scene, such as the "Why I love Christchurch" column and the Council noticeboard.
"Were concerned about people who think they get little or nothing for their rates. We want Christchurch residents to see the incredible range of services their Council provides for an average of $16.28 a week, and also allow residents to give us their views," he said.
There will be City Councillors and staff at the display throughout the show from 10 to 14 November.
The tent includes a theatrette that will feature talks and videos on specific Council responsibilities, including kerbside recycling, parks, leisure, libraries, animal control, the Art Gallery, water, waste and cycling.
One highlight will be interactive displays from Turning Point 2000, which is organising events and activities for the new millennium.
