Chairperson’s Recommendation: That the report of the Ordinary Meeting of 3 March 1999, as circulated, be confirmed.

3. DEPUTATIONS BY APPOINTMENT

(a) Books in Homes Project

The Assistant Principal of Hammersley Park School, Margaret Jones, has requested speaking rights to inform the Board of the project to commence at the school in Term 3. Assistance towards the total project cost of just over $6,000 is being sought. Margaret Jones will be present at 4.00 pm.

(b) Whitehall Street – Traffic Problems

Mr Patrick New of Whitehall Street has requested speaking rights to address the Board on traffic speeding issues in Whitehall Street. (Refer Clause 14). He will be present at 4.15 pm.

(c) North Christchurch Truancy Service

Mr Neil Lancaster, Principal of Mairehau High School, is seeking funding of $5,000 on behalf of the North Christchurch Truancy Service. They are in the process of setting up a voluntary truancy team, to support the truancy officer. The grant would provide the volunteers with a cellphone, some funding for travel and other associated expenses. He will be present at 4.30 pm.
