Three-week closure for Pioneer pools

The pools at Pioneer Leisure Centre will be closed for three weeks from 12 July to 1 August inclusive. The main reason for the closure is so that new acoustic tiles can be installed in the ceilings above all pool areas. The pools need to be drained so that five workers can use scaffolding to get to the ceiling.

While they’re up at the ceiling, all main lights will be re-affixed, and brackets for air conditioning units renewed.

Unfortunately the three-week closure includes one week of the school holidays (12 to 18 July). However, there will still be a lot going on at Pioneer Leisure Centre in the stadium and the dry areas, while the pools are closed. Upcoming events include some from TV2 Kidsfest and school holiday programmes.
