Community courses at South Learning Centre

Three months into her new role as community education facilitator at the South Learning Centre, in Beckenham, Amelia Davis is still coming to grips with the amazing array of technology the centre offers.

“I’m enjoying the challenge of learning all about information and communication technology (ICT), and how to make it available and interesting to community groups,” she says.

The latest community programme the South Learning Centre is offering is Work Online, a regular Monday morning tutored class for job seekers. The sessions cover email and internet skills; CV composition; and employment and training guides.

iCreate, a modular multimedia digital design course is starting mid July. It is being run in association with NatColl.

Using the latest Macromedia software the course is open to anyone over 15 wanting to combine their creativity with computer-aided techniques. Those who complete all four courses will end up with a portfolio suitable for submission to tertiary foundation courses.
