Vicki Buck rose on sale

Vivacious, bright and fragrant. That’s how the new Vicki Buck rose has been described. On sale this month, the bright yellow hybrid tea rose will be available at some primary schools, the Salvation Army (phone its Public Relations Department on 377 6440) and at the Athol McCully Garden Centres. The plants are $20.

The Vicki Buck rose was propagated by Nola Simpson QSM and grown by Matthew’s Nurseries of Wanganui. The propagation was carried out as a fund-raising venture, including helping schools purchase computer equipment. The Vicki Buck roses follow on from sales of the popular Christchurch Garden City rose, which can still be purchased from Athol McCully Garden Centres. $5 from the sale of each Garden City Rose goes to the Mayor’s Welfare Fund.
