Parking plan progress

The Council’s draft parking strategy has attracted about 80 submissions, most from individuals but also from companies, schools, Council Community Boards and groups representing residents and roadusers.

The policy was open for public input until 22 November last year.

About half the submitters talked about Central City parking and traffic and many were in support of promoting and using alternative modes of transport.

The Council’s community boards and Sustainable Transport and Utilities (STU) Committee are considering the submissions and how the policy might be changed to reflect them.

It is expected that the STU Committee and the full City Council will debate the changed strategy in May and vote on its adoption. That STU Committee meeting is on 6 May, while the full Council meets on 22 May.
