'02 good for new homes
Last year was a good one for new building
starts. Consents to build 1800 new dwellings
were issued during 2002, up by almost 19 per
cent on the 1218 consents issued in 2001. City
Council figures show that the best year so far for
new building consents was 1994, when 1851
were issued. New Zealand-wide, consents were issued for
27,208 new dwellings in 2002, up 32 per cent on
2001’s total. |
