Invacare World Team Cup tennis in January


The Invacare World Team Cup - the wheelchair tennis equivalent of the Davis and Federation cups - is being held at Wilding Park 20-25 January 2004, with 300 competitors representing 40 countries.

Organised by Canterbury Tennis with support from the Christchurch City Council, the event is coming to New Zealand for the first time. It is only the second time it has been held in the southern hemisphere.

Players will compete in four sections - men, women, quads and junior. Admission is free and spectators will be able to see world-ranked players from a host of countries, including Argentina, Canada, Japan, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

The tournament is on at the Scenic Circle Hotels Tennis Centre, in Wilding Park on Woodham Road. Admission is free. For more information look on the web, at www.canterburytennis.co.nz
