Council to stay with FPP

The CCC has decided to stick with its First Past the Post (FPP) system for the 2004 local body elections. At a special meeting to debate changing to a Single Transferable Voting (STV) system, the City Council voted 13-12 for no change. The meeting also decided that, at the 2004 local body elections, Christchurch voters will be asked to indicate which voting system they would prefer in future elections.
