Summer Pools opening 16 November


Look out for the City Council’s new brochure which carries up to date information about CCC Leisure Centres and the activities they offer. The information is also available on the Council website, at www.ccc.govt.nz/leisurecentres

The City Council’s three Summer Pools and Jellie Park Aqualand’s outside pools will open for the season on Saturday, 16 November. The Sockburn Pool,Waltham Lido Pool and Halswell Aquatic Centre will open daily from 11am, with Jellie Park (now managed by City Council Leisure) opening on weekdays from 6am and on the weekends from 10am.

The three Summer Pools provide a fun swimming experience, and the events poolside create a fun festive atmosphere over the Christmas holidays.

The first event is the Pre-school Pantomime, a Christmas party for under-5s featuring Winnie the Pooh and friends with a special guest appearance by Father Christmas. Come with a picnic and sing and dance with Pooh. There will also be face painting, prizes and much more.

  • The Pre-school Pantomime is on from 12–2pm at each pool on Friday 29 Nov, Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 December. The pool entry price covers admission. For more information on Summer Pool events visit our www.ccc.govt.nz/leisurecentres website or pick up a calendar of events.
  • Summer Pools admission charges: child $1.50, adult $3.50, parent/caregiver with preschooler $1.50, family (2 adults, 2 children) $7, family (1 adult, 1 child) $4.50, community card holder $2.   • Jellie Park Aqualand’s hours are Mon-Fri 6am to 7pm, weekends and public holidays 10am to 7pm (closed Christmas Day). Admission: adult $4, child under 15 $1.50, pre-schoolers $1.

More Chill Pool parties

More of the popular themed Chill Pool Parties are planned for the City Council’s QEII Park, Pioneer and Centennial Leisure Centres. These parties are for children 10-14yrs, cost just $2 a child, and include fun games and giveaways.

The next party, Giant Inflatables Disco, is at the Centennial Leisure Centre in Armagh Street on Friday 8 November, from 7.30-9.30pm.
