Strip, Exchange winners

The Oxford Terrace strip and Bus Exchange have won awards. The Strip won a Town Centres Association of NZ achievement award. The awards honour the country’s best town centre revitalisations done between January 1997 and September this year. The Strip won the economic development category.

The association named the Bus Exchange as a finalist in its community category.

The Bus Exhange was also awarded an Extra Touch award by the Association of Blind Citizens of NZ for ensuring it works for blind and visually impaired people.

City Council transport planner Stuart Woods says the Council set out to involve a wide range of community groups when it was planning the work. “The excellent facility we now have is in large measure a result of the quality input of the various groups we consulted with,” he says.
