Latimer Sqaure changes

The period for submissions on improving Latimer Square closed on 31 October. Following the submissions’ collation and analysis by an independent research company, staff are preparing a report for Council to decide on the square's future, including whether to narrow or close Worcester Street through the middle or leave it as it is.

The report will also take into account earlier consultation with the Latimer Square community and the 1991 Neighbourhood Improvement Plan, as well as inner-city revitalisation and heritage considerations. Council is expected to make a decision before the end of the year. Meanwhile new lights have been installed along the park boundary of Latimer Square West in response to community concerns about safety and security in the area after dark.
