The new Christchurch Garden City Rose will be on sale around the city from later this month and will help raise funds for the Mayor’s Welfare Fund. The red hybrid tea rose was bred for the city by renowned New Zealand breeder Nola Simpson.

Specimens of the rose have been planted in the Botanic Gardens. The idea came from a Council team which was looking at creative ways of making a difference tied into the Garden City image. A portion of the cost of each rose sold will go to the Mayor’s Welfare Fund.
