Avon River Strategy

People still have time to take part in preparation of a strategy for the Avon River being prepared by Council staff.

The October issue of City Scene carried a short questionnaire, which is available at the Council’s Our City O-Tautahi office on the Corner of Oxford Terrace and Worcester Boulevard and from the Civic Offices on Tuam Street or by email from suzanne.weld@ccc.govt.nz The strategy will focus on the stretch of the river flowing through the Central City.

The Council wants to build on the existing attractive landscape character that the river contributes to the area, improving recreational opportunities, implementing a tree replacement programme and ensuring that the ecology of the waterway is maximised. A draft strategy will be available for further comment early next year.
