Good Deed deadline

Nominations close on Friday (9 August) for this year’s City Council Civic Awards. The awards have been running for 13 years and are designed to recognise and thank the city’s “unsung heroes”, people and organisations that do good deeds. “If it weren’t for the many people and organisations in our city that work voluntarily and selflessly, our society would almost grind to a halt,” says Dave Adamson, the awards’ administrator.

The awards are for youth activities, social welfare, educational services, cultural affairs, religious affairs, and community affairs. As well, voluntary services that “contribute to furthering the vision of Christchurch” can be nominated.
