Frocks and Frills at New Zealand Cup and Show Week

17 October 2008

Fabulous fashions and designer collections will be laced throughout Christchurch this New Zealand Cup and Show Week.

The city will be full to the brim with thousands of spectators lining the tracks in flirtatious heels and fabulous hats.

Top Kiwi designers lead into the week at the glamorous Style Christchurch events and CPIT’s Pitch Emerging Designer Show will showcase some local designer flair.

Central City Chic gives A Taste of Cup and Show Week and a taste of what to wear. The free party in High Street Stewart Plaza on Friday November 7 from midday is an opportunity to show off your new look or be inspired for something special.

Then its the racing events where fashions are really on show with a number of Fashion in the Field events to enter or pick up style tips from.

Mike Godber, CEO Addington Raceway, says he is always delighted to see such a huge response to NZ Cup and Show Week racing.

“Fashion has continued to play a major part in what makes Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup Day such a special occasion. So much so that we have now put together a schedule of lead up events to give entrants every opportunity to look their best on the day.”

Addington Raceway will be buzzing with a calendar of pre-Cup events previewing fashions and styles that will make the racing week so spectacular.

26,000 punters and fashionistas are expected to flood through the gates on New Zealand’s biggest race and fashion day of the year - Cup Day.

Flowers, frocks and fascinators will feature on this day, Tuesday November 11, and ladies from all over New Zealand strut their stuff to the finish line.

Serious fashion contenders steal the racing thunder for some stylin’ raceway action and compete for $25,000 worth of prizes in the Lindauer Best Dressed competition & fashion parade.

There are several fashion competitions happening throughout Cup Day but the overall winner of the Lindauer Best Dressed Lady wins a trip for two to London staying five nights at a Millennium Hotel.

Riccarton Park will bring the week to a close in style as it hosts the biggest and final Fashion in the Field competition.

The lady winner of this high class free to enter competition will win a trip for two to Beijing with the men’s finalist taking him and a friend on a breathtaking seven night cruise.

Fashion events are happening right throughout New Zealand Cup and Show Week in what will be the hottest looking city in New Zealand.

Ladies can enter Cup Day competitions on course on the day at the Lindauer Fashion Marquee at Addington before 12.30pm and from 11am for Riccarton competitions next to the Birdcage Bar.

If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to splurge on that designer dress or wear your hottest set of heels, then miss fashionista, your time has come!
