Cartooning For Peace
13 November 2008
Cartoons and peace come together at Christchurch Art Gallery next week as two renowned cartoonists give an off-the-cuff demonstration of their cartooning practise.
Cartoonists WIAZ, from France’s weekly Le Nouvel Observateur, and Al Nisbet, from The Press, will be in the auditorium at 6pm on Wednesday 19 November as part of the Gallery’s Showcase International.
The event is part of a national programme of events for the international conference exhibition Cartooning for Peace - the brainchild of French political cartoonist Plantu. A similar event held at the Gallery last year proved hugely successful, says Public Programmes Officer Sarah Amazinnia.
“A full house enjoyed last year’s Cartooning For Peace presentation and we have every reason to expect the same this year with our two award-winning editorial cartoonists.”
Cartooning for Peace at Christchurch Art Gallery is generously supported by the French Embassy, the New Zealand / France Friendship Fund and the Alliance Francaise.
