Seniors invited to celebrate the season at Winter Fling

24 June 2008

Senior citizens in the Richmond area and surrounding suburbs are invited to join in a winter celebration of song and dance at the Richmond Club, corner of Stanmore Road and London Street.

The Hagley/Ferrymead Community Board is sponsoring an afternoon Winter Fling on Thursday, 3 July from 1pm to 4pm. Admission to the event is free, but numbers are limited and no advance bookings will be accepted. Doors open at 12.30pm.

The Winter Fling promises lively afternoon with performances by Deane Waretini and friends, the Richmond school kapa haka group and the Richmond handbell ringers. MC Janice Gray is sure to lead revellers in a timeless song or two.

Dancing stars Brian Dibnah and Yelana Gargis will also perform, and inspired attendees can participate in line dancing.

The Earl of Richmond restaurant is supplying afternoon tea for the event.

If transport is an issue for those interested in attending who live in the Richmond area and adjacent suburbs within a 1.5 km radius, a courtesy van is available. Please phone Avebury House on 381 6615 to make arrangements.
