Ellerslie Flower Show to be televised
29 August 2008
New Zealanders will be able to share in the trials and tribulations of their favourite garden designers as they prepare for the first Christchurch-hosted Ellerslie International Flower Show.
Ellerslie will be the subject of a 13-week television series to be screened Saturday mornings on TV1 from 10 January 2009.
Ellerslie International Flower Show managing director Dave Mee says it is fantastic to be able to secure a television series for Ellerslie.
"This is something we have been looking to achieve for some years. With the television show, all New Zealand can now share in the excitement of Ellerslie.
"Ellerslie has already developed an international reputation and with Christchurch’s vision to make the Show one of the top five garden shows in the world we can only expect to see the profile of this event continue to grow."
Mr Mee says the television show will follow designers as they prepare to take part in the first Christchurch-hosted Show, showcase the event for Ellerslie – Christchurch’s Botanic Gardens and North Hagley Park – Canterbury’s award-winning and nationally significant gardens, promote sustainability and offer gardening tips and feature new products.
"We are currently working through finalising the content of the Show and securing a confirmed time slot with TVNZ."
Mr Mee says the television series will cover the build-up to the Show and then the Show itself, with the series running to 4 April.
