Akaroa water update
6 August 2008
The water supply to Akaroa and Takamatua has returned to normal.
The severe weather that affected the country last week caused problems with the water supply in both areas, and local residents were asked to conserve their water use over the weekend.
The reservoir which supplies water to Akaroa has now returned to normal levels, after losing a large amount of water due to a burst pipe. The leak was located and sealed off on Friday.
In Takamatua water supplies were limited due to the heavy rain affecting the quality of the intake water in the local catchment. The water quality has now improved due to river levels dropping, and the supplies in reservoir are now back to normal levels.
