Slip closes Dyers Pass Road
1 August 2008
A slip has closed part of Dyers Pass Road , on the Port Hills.
The slip has occurred just south of the Sign of the Kiwi, and a diversion is in place through Lyttelton Tunnel.
Fulton Hogan contractors are currently at the site clearing the road, but its not known how long it will take before the road can be reopened.
A number of roads on Banks Peninsula are still affected by slips and debris, and parts of Akaroa Summit Road , Bossu Road , and Pipers Valley Rd are currently closed.
All other roads in the area are currently open, but there is some surface flooding on Waimea Terrace, Lower Styx Road , Spencerville Road , and Gebbies Pass Road between Teddington and Motukarara. Roads alongside the Heathcote River may also be affected by some flooding throughout the day.
Motorists should continue to take extreme care on the roads.
