Woodham Road subdivision renamed

1 October 2007

Confusion over street numbering of properties in a three-year-old subdivision off Woodham Road will be resolved next month when the right of way becomes a road.

At the time the subdivision was created in 2004, there were limited property numbers available for the 14 new dwellings, says City Council Information Services Manager Stephen Bensberg.

"This resulted in a complex numbering system using only four numbers and considerable problems with misdirected mail and frustrations for both deliveries and visitors experiencing difficulty in locating properties.

"From 2 November, the right of way will become known as Woodham Courts, a name which has been chosen by the residents."

He says with the new road, each resident will have their own street number.

"This will alleviate all the frustrations and angst this issue has been causing residents."

"Council acknowledges these changes may be disruptive and apologises in advance to those affected residents for any inconvenience."

The Council will advise NZ Post of the changes and arranged to cover the cost of redirecting mail of affected residents for two months – to the start of January 2008.

"Council will also advise emergency services of the changes," he says.
