Councillors defer decisions on Central Plains Water Trust issues unitl 11am Thursday
At an extraordinary meeting today, Councillors decided to delay discussing Central Plains Water trust issues until 11am this Thursday 7 June.
Councillors listened to submissions from the Malvern Hills Protection Society, the Water Rights Trust and the Mayor of the Ashburton District Council, Bede O’Malley.
Mayor Garry Moore says “It is great we were able to undertake this exercise and listen to each others’ points of view. Some good issues and questions were raised and we can see there are areas where we need to get more information before making a decision.’’
“We hold the environment in trust for our children’s children and it is important we get it right. This is a good example of the checks and balances within the system.’’
