Christchurch to celebrate Crusaders’ victory on Monday (29 May) at midday in Cathedral Square

27 May 2006

Christchurch Mayor Garry Moore invites Crusaders’ supporters to the central city at lunchtime on Monday to applaud the players and celebrate the team’s Super 14 title.

The Crusaders beat the Hurricanes 19-12 in Saturday night’s Rebel Sport Super 14 final at Jade Stadium.

“Monday will be an opportunity for Cantabrians to come out in their thousands to celebrate this Super 14 victory,” says Mayor Garry Moore.

Monday’s victory celebration in Cathedral Square starts at midday.  The public are encouraged to dress in team colours - red and black. The victory ceremony will go ahead rain or shine.

The players and management will bring the new Rebel Sport Super 14 trophy, there will be a few short speeches and fans will have an opportunity to meet the players and get their autographs.

Mobility parks will be available around Cathedral Square outside the Millennium Hotel.
