Pilates (pronounced  Pi-lah-tees) leaves you feeling refreshed and alert, with a sense of physical and mental well being. The Pilates method involves progressive exercises - deep stretching and controlled resistance movements using the abdominal muscles as the powerhouse of the body.

Regardless of fitness level, you can participate and enjoy the benefits of this form of exercise. Benefits include improved posture and strengthened lower back, buttocks and stomach muscles. Pilates can help improve flexibility, strengthen the body and reduce stress.

A city of healthy and active people is one of the City Council’s key Community Outcomes. Supporting SPARC  (Sport and Recreation New Zealand) guidelines recommending adults do at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day, council brings pilates to you in your community.
